The new head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Seydou Zerbo, has revealed in a pre-match press conference at Baba Yara Sports Stadium that the fans of the club have to be present in their numbers to witness how the team will play.
After defeating Rail Club du Kadiogo by a solitary goal at Stade de l’Amitié Général Mathieu Kérékou in Benin, Kumasi Asante Kotoko will host Rail Club du Kadiogo in the second leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round.
Seydou Zerbo, who was appointed the head coach of Kotoko in August when the team was preparing for a preseason trip to Sudan, heads the technical team and other individuals like Abdul Gazelle as Assistant Coach, Najahu Issah as Goalkeeper Coach, and Nazil Nazim as the video analyst.
After a humiliating defeat in Sudan during their preseason training, he has now won his first competitive game since being appointed. Against Al Hilal Omdurman, Simba FC, and Al Ahli Khartoum, they allowed in twelve goals.
A team will be put together by the former head coach of Burkina Faso’s CHAN squad to compete at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for the first time. He had previously competed there as a guest coach against Maxwell Konadu.
The team has not played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium since their game against Elmina Sharks when they were presented with the league trophy. It was an entertaining atmosphere that Sunday and they want to witness that moment come true on Sunday, their first game in the CAF Champions League.
Ahead of the clash, the head coach, Richard Boadu, and video analyst, Nazil Nazim, were at a pre-match press conference at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday, September 16, 2022, at 9:00 am.
When a reporter questioned him about his side’s setup for the match against RC Kadiogo on Sunday, he said that he could only welcome the spectators to the stadium to watch his team play but couldn’t divulge the format.
In response to a query about how his team will play, Zerbo said, “This is a press conference and I won’t sit here to tell you the system we are going to deploy, so you just have to come on Sunday and watch how we will play.”
