Accra Hearts of Oak, the MTN FA Cup Champions of the 2021–2022 season, have formally announced Slavko Matić as a viable successor for Samuel Boadu.
The Serbian coach joins the rainbow lads after leaving Septemvri Sofia, a lower-tier Bulgarian League side.
Last Wednesday, October 19, 2022, the majority shareholder, Togbe Afede XIV, during a media engagement at the World Trade Centre, made an official announcement of Slavko Matić at his new position at Accra Hearts of Oak.
Togbe declared that he would be offering the UEFA Pro License holder a two-year deal at Hearts of Oak in a statement to the media on the club’s early exit from the 2022–23 Caf Confederation Cup.
Since his arrival in the nation on October 11, Matić’s partnership has been anticipated. The 46-year-old was contacted about the Hearts of Oak position almost soon after Samuel Boadu was freed of his duties.
Following the Serbian’s formal unveiling to the supporters, Accra Hearts of Oak’s new head coach conducted his first interview with the MTN FA Cup Champions’ communication department.
In his new position, Matić emphasised the difficulty with the African club and the necessity of winning trophies. He also highlighted that he is at the best club in World.
In a video uploaded by Hearts of Oak Communications’ official YouTube channel, he remarked, “Africa is a big challenge, and I’ve joined a big club. We hope to achieve great success. We want to concentrate on enhancing our football skills so that we can help other players. We also desire to take the trophies. As I mentioned, Africa is a huge task, and I’ve joined a big club. Hearts of Oak is the best club in the world for me as of right now.”
The hiring of the Serbian head coach on October 19, 2022, appears to be timed to coincide with Cecil Jones Attuquayefio, the club’s finest coach, turning 70. On his birthday, Wednesday, October 19, 2022, all various social media platforms paid tribute to the Late Attuquayefio.
