On October 31, 2022, Steve Dese Mukwala scored his first goal in the BetPawa Premier League against Kotoko’s city rival Kumasi King Faisal.
At the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Monday night, the Ugandan forward sparkled. He has participated in five (5) games for Kotoko in all competitions, comprising three BetPawa Premier League games and two CAF Champions League games.
Steve Mukwala was elected the Most Valuable Player after the game. He scored the first goal to put his side ahead, won a penalty which was scored by the captain, Richard Boadu, and assisted Nicholas Opoku Mensah.
After Kotoko’s loss to Rail Club du Kadiogo, he faced strong criticism from the team’s supporters since he replaced the hot-shot Franck Mbella in the starting lineup after agreeing to join the Egyptian team Al Masry.
The Baba Yara Sports Stadium crowd last Monday night was talking about him, and Mukwala shared his enthusiasm in a post-game interview with StarTimes.
He stated, “Basically, it’s a great feeling because it’s my first goal in the Premier League, it was my opening goal, so I believe many more goals are to come, so I feel delighted to score in front of big Kotoko fans and I basically have to thank my teammates.”
Steve Mukwala’s last goal in a competitive match occurred on March 27, 2022, in a match for his former team, Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club (URA SC), who defeated Villa 3-1. Before that outstanding effort last Monday night, he had never scored in a competitive game.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko has occupied the fifth position on the BetPawa Premier League table after three matches played, while their away game against Bechem United has been postponed.
Realizing that Steve Dese Mukwala has found his form in the BetPawa Premier League, Grace Lindsay Mbabazi, a well-known sports television personality at NBS Television in Uganda, has hinted that she may travel to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to observe him play.
A tweet seen by the proactive editors of www.atspo.com @gracelmbabazi, being a reply to the forward’s tweet, read, “I’m going to buy a ticket, travel to Ghana to watch my Son @Mukwala9. No time to rest son. Keep pushing. “
