In the previous competitions, sixteen U-16 teams pitted their wits against each other with the aim of claiming the ultimate trophy.
The last champion of the competition was Great Somax, who defeated Cedar Star Academy by a score of 2-1 in the final and have since been out of the Ghanaian football arena.
The directives of the previous competition were that juvenile clubs play to qualify at regional levels for qualification to the final round in Accra. The most memorable match in the Ashanti Region was between Suame-based Anokye Stars and Ebony FC.

On the final day of the transfer deadline in 2020, Chelsea signed Mohammed Gouni, a 17-year-old who was a topic of discussion during the 2019 Baby Jet U-16 Tournament when he emerged as the tournament’s top goal scorer.
The last edition of the Baby Jet U-16 competition in 2019 saw 32 teams from the West African sub-region compete.
