Christian Atsu Twasam, who scored the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Goal of the Tournament and was named Player of the Tournament, needs assistance from the Ghanaian government.
His twin sister has requested assistance from the Ghanaian government in light of conflicting reports regarding the security of Ghanaian football player Christian Atsu Twasam in Turkey.
Following the earthquake on Monday morning, Atsu, a player for Hatayspor in Turkey, was one of the thousands of people who were buried under rubble.
Hatayspor Vice President Mustafa Özat, the current club of the Ghanaian winger, made a public declaration that the information he received about their player being rescued from the rubble was false.
Hatayspor won their last league game against Kasımpaşa S.K., which the Ghanaian winger scored from a direct free-kick at their favorite New Hatay Stadium, and has since been affected by this unfortunate incident, with their goal scorer still unknown.
The twin sister of Christian Atsu Twasam, Christiana Atsupie Twasam, has appealed to government officials, Ghana’s Ambassador to Turkey, and the government of Ghana to get involved to pinpoint his brother and pull him out of the wreckage.
In an interview with crimecheckghana.org, the official website of a philanthropic organization, the Crime Check Foundation, which has freed some innocent prisoners in the country along with Christian Atsu, his sister requested government assistance.
London-based Christiana Atsupie Twasam appealed in an interview with the Executive Director of the Crime Check Foundation (CCF), Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng, last Wednesday.
She petitioned, “I have tried reaching out to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ghanaian High Commission in Turkey, but to no avail. I know my brother is a national asset; he has done a lot for his country, and the government must get involved. I am in a confused state now; I don’t know whether my brother has been rescued or not.”
