The Sudanese giant Al-Hilal Omdurman won their second game, which was the third fixture of Group B of the CAF Champions League, against Coton Sport FC de Garoua.
Al-Hilal had failed to win an away game in their previous ten CAF Champions League attempts before their game at the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua, but they defied all odds and won an away game to secure second place in the group.
According to the statistics, the Sudanese and Cameroonian teams met for the fifth time in the CAF Champions League, and Al-Hilal made his third visit to Garoua, where the Sudanese club won their first away game in Cameroon in their third attempt.
The Ghanaian duo of Imoro Ibrahim and David Abagna Sandan were in action for their Sudanese side Al-Hilal Omdurman in their 2-1 win against Coton Sport, with an interpretation that David Abagna has played in three successive games since joining and Imoro Ibrahim has played for the seventh time in the CAF Champions League.
The two Ghanaian internationals were named to Florent Ibenge’s starting lineup against Coton Sport at the Roumde Adjia Stadium, with Imoro Ibrahim playing the entire game and David Abagna being replaced in the 66th minute by Abdelrazig Omer.
Coton Sport led the tie at halftime by one goal, thanks to Patient Gouegoue Wassou, who scored his second goal at home in the CAF Champions League group stage, where his team has lost both of its home games.
Makabi Lilepo, a striker from DR Congo and a former player of AS Vita Club, levelled the score seven minutes into the second half, and he got the match-winning goal five minutes after the equaliser to record his third goal in the competition since joining Al-Hilal at the start of the season.
The Sudan side held on to their lead and completed the game by a 2-1 margin to go level on points with Mamelodi Sundowns in Group B, waiting to see if the South Africans could extend their lead on the table after their game against Al Ahly in Cairo.
