A Nigerian politician, entrepreneur, sports enthusiast, and chairman of Bet9ja, a Nigerian betting website, has weighed in on Ghanaian Premier League champion Medeama Sporting Club.
After being eliminated from the 2022–2023 CAF Confederation Cup in the First Round, Remo Stars FC, the second-placed team in the previous season in the Nigerian Professional Football League, hopes to defeat their Ghanaian opponent.
According to www.atspo.com editors, the Sky Blue Stars will be coming to Ghana on Saturday, August 19th, 2023, via their owner’s private Nigerian airline, ValueJet. They will be arriving in preparation for the first leg game at Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Sunday.
In an interview with Kumasi-based Akoma FM, the financier of Remo Stars, Kunle Soname, uncovered the exploits of betPawa Premier League winner Medeama SC, which have been identified by him and the technical team.
The well-known Nigerian politician, who has been recognised for his charitable work by the University of Lagos as a patron, spoke highly of the Tarkwa-based team’s outstanding season of 2022–2023 and, in particular, their victory over Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Kunle discussed with Abusuapanin Sammy Acheampong, the host of Akoma Sports, the accomplishments that have made their away game in their inaugural CAF Champions League campaign much more difficult and hectic.
“What struck me the most is that Medeama defeated the established and famous Ghanaian clubs Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak in the previous season, and they scored Hearts of Oak by 5-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium, and that speaks volumes,” Kunle explained.
Kunle, who was the first Nigerian to buy a European club, C.D. Feirense, in 2015, emphasised the points difference between Medeama SC and the second-placed team in the betPawa Premier League.
Kunle accentuated, “We are also aware that at the end of the Ghanaian season, Medeama finished five points ahead of the second-placed team, which speaks to the calibre of opposition we will face.”
