Mr. Ernest Owusu-Ansah, Asante Kotoko's operations manager under Dr. Kofi Koduah Sarpong and Dr. Kwame Kyei, described the team's performance after Week 1 as an improvement over their preseason friendly game against Nsoatreman.
In the final league game of the week, Kumasi Asante Kotoko welcomed Kpando Heart of Lions to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
After the four-member Interim Management Committee (IMC) was established by the authorities at Manhyia Palace, Kumasi Asante put together a team with five of the players in the starting lineup as new signings.
The team played well in their first home game in front of a larger crowd and had more chances to score, but the away team, Heart of Lions, stayed strong in defence to deny Kotoko a goal.
Mr. Ernest Owusu-Ansah, also known as P-J among Kotoko supporters, made his claim about the team after the game against Heart of Lions last Sunday evening.
In an interview with Atakorah Raphael Kofi, Mr. Ernest Owusu-Ansah expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, which he described as an improvement, citing their last preseason friendly game against Nsoatreman.
“Per my understanding of the technical duties during preseason, it is conceded as team building. It is a process, so it’s going to take time. I watched our game against Nsoatreman, and I think it’s an improvement on the Nsoatreman match,” Mr. Ernest Owusu-Ansah hinted to www.atspo.com when his opinion was demanded.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko fans will remember Mr. Ernest Owusu-Ansah’s tenure because it was during that time that players were served breakfast from Monday to Wednesday and supper on Thursdays and Fridays after training sessions.
