David Duncan, an experienced coach, returns to the BetPawa Premier League after being away at Kumasi Asante Kotoko during the 2015/2016 season.
The coach will be at his sixth club in Ghana, having previously worked with Accra Great Olympics, Secondi-Hasaacas, Obuasi Ashante Gold, Accra Hearts of Oak, and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
His final Ghanaian club was Kumasi Asante Kotoko, when he was appointed on a two-year deal on March 18, 2015, and won the 2015 SWAG Cup against his previous side Obuasi Ashante Gold, however, his tenure as coach of Kotoko ended the following year, 2016 due to mutual contract termination.
After his legal disputes with Kotoko were resolved, he stayed unemployed but was chosen to be C.K. Akonnor’s deputy as the assistant coach of the Ghanaian Black Stars in 2020. However, he lost the job to Milovan Rajevac and Maxwell Konadu during the AFCON Qualifiers, which they sent the team to Cameroon at the beginning of the year.
The head coach of Medeama Sporting Club has been officially named for the forthcoming league season, in which they play at the El-Wak Sports Stadium against Legon Cities at 3:00 p.m. The coach, who had his coaching career in South Africa with Free States Stars.
He made a statement to the fans at Tarkwa when he was officially unveiled on their various social media handles, “it’s a great privilege and honour, equally excited about the challenge ahead. The club can be assured of my unflinching commitment, passion, and loyalty as I take on this huge challenge. It’s exciting to return to the BetPawa Premier League after a long absence.
Moses Armah, the Club’s Bankroller and President, stated following the unveiling event, “We are delighted that David has joined us for a year and hopefully we can enjoy further years of success with him. He is a top-notch coach, who has an eye for youth development as well and that excites us. We are happy with his vision for the club, and his drive and determination to achieve success for the team.
